How does one experience the sense of passing time and past memories? Like time, light is intangible and can induce a sense of hypnotic state. Much like the act of remembering itself. So the goal for this small light installation, is to represent this sense of gazing and passing time by using the moire effect.
The moire pattern was firstly created in illustration then laser cut out from black cardboard paper. The mechanical structure inside the piece, which allows it to rotate, was designed within rhino and then laser cut out of clear acrylic.
The light source inside is a small single sourced LED, that gives a sparkle effect when the user interacts with the piece by making it rotate. Thus resulting in the moire effect seen below.
Moire pattern created in illustrator.
