Time flees and time stands still. Time can show us past memories and time can remind us of the future.
The goal for this small light installation, is to represent this sense of gazing and passing time by using the moire effect.
Moodboard_moire effect
The moire pattern was firstly created in illustration then laser cut out from black cardboard paper. The mechanical structure inside the piece, which allows it to rotate, was designed within rhino and then laser cut out of clear acrylic.
The light source inside is a small single sourced LED, that gives a sparkle effect when the user interacts with the piece by making it rotate. Thus resulting in the moire effect seen below.
